Discovery

Discovery helps you automatically find and catalog applications running in your identity provider (IDP) environment. Instead of manually tracking down every application, Discovery connects to your IDP tenant and scans for active applications, giving you a complete inventory in one place.

How Discovery Works

When you run Discovery, Maverics securely logs into your IDP tenant using the credentials you provide. It then searches through your environment to identify all running applications and presents them in an organized list. From there, you can dive deeper into each application to understand its configuration, usage patterns, and integration requirements.

What You'll See

After Discovery completes its scan, you'll get a comprehensive view of your application landscape. Each discovered application appears with key details like its name, type, and permissions. This inventory becomes your starting point for planning migrations, analyzing dependencies, or simply understanding what's currently deployed in your environment.

Getting Started

Before using Discovery, you'll need administrative access to your IDP tenant and the appropriate credentials. Once configured, Discovery runs automatically and updates your application inventory, helping you maintain visibility into your evolving application ecosystem.

  1. To create a new Discovery flow, click Discovery from the left navigation. At the top of the Discovery screen, select your IDP tenant to create a new flow.

  1. Click Authorize Discovery to kick off the discovery flow and log into your IDP.

Discovery authorization grants the Strata Discovery Client with read-only access to applications and service principals in the Azure tenant on your behalf.

Depending on how you have configured your access to Azure, you might need Microsoft Authenticator or an authenticator app to complete the authorization.

When you return to the Discovery Flows page, your new flow will appear under Manage Discovery Flows.

  1. To add the app to your App Fabric, scroll to the bottom of the summary and click the Add to App Fabric button. You can also click the 3-dot button and select, Add to App Fabric.

App Fabric

The App Fabric is your central dashboard for viewing all the applications that Discovery has found in your environment. Think of it as your application inventory - a single place where you can see everything that's been discovered and catalogued from your IDP tenant.

Right now, the App Fabric provides a clean, organized view of all applications identified during Discovery scans. You can browse through your discovered applications, see their basic details, and get an overview of your complete application landscape at a glance.

Note: Refresh the page if you do not see the selected application in the App Fabric list.
