Installing an orchestrator

The Maverics Orchestrator is a stateless service that can be deployed on Linux, Windows, Docker, and optionally run on Kubernetes.

Managing frequent updates at enterprise scale can be challenging, and the right update cadence for your organization will depend on your infrastructure and your configuration management practices. However, Strata recommends updating your orchestrator with every minor and patch release, or monthly, at minimum. These releases often include security and bug fixes that improve the overall security posture and robustness of the orchestrator.

To update the Orchestrator between two minor versions on a given host, run the corresponding install command for your platform.

Orchestrator release numbering follows semantic versioning rules.

How to download releases

You can download the latest version of an orchestrator from the Maverics Console.

  1. Go to Deployments.

  2. Create a new deployment or open an existing deployment.

  3. Scroll to the Host Environment section and click Download.

  4. Make your selection from the slide-out window.

Alternatively, for automating CI/CD, the most recent and earlier versions of the orchestrator can be accessed through the API. Follow the instructions on how to Get releases by API.

Evaluation Bundles

When utilizing Maverics as your configuration storage provider, evaluation bundles are accessible to quickly and easily test user flows. This offers a quick start approach and is intended solely for development purposes. The bundle contains a orchestrator executable, preconfigured environment file that will connect to this deployment, the public key for validating config published from this deployment, and self signed certs for testing user flows.

Windows Client Authenticator

The Windows Client Authenticator App for Maverics allows Windows/IIS users to validate their identity to Maverics Orchestrator using their Windows desktop credentials.
